February 2026 – We’re back after a little break. Great to be recording new episodes exploring Manchester’s hidden history – and hope to be dropping these roughly every month (or as often as we can). You can check out some of Chris’ history-themed work as part of the Guardian’s Cotton Capital series. Dean is gearing up for a new season of tour guiding while also working on a new book – more details to come.

March 2025 – More episodes are being recorded. Here’s a pic of the studio (check out the old school ‘on air’ sign).

February 2025 – We are recording new episodes. This time we’re focusing on the cotton mill workers and the strange life of Elizabethan magician John Dee and his decade in Manchester. If you’d like to support us by covering our production and online hosting costs, we have a Buy Me A Coffee account. Any support is gratefully received.
October 2024 – Our friends at Manchester Central Library, where we record our episodes, have kindly featured our podcast in their most recent newsletter. You can read about it here.

August 2024 – We have written more about the history of the Mancunian dialect here in this Manchester Evening News article (including some Victorian words that we weren’t able to include in our podcast).
June 2024 – It was an honour to speak at the Manchester Histories Festival. A great line-up of events and some extremely knowledgeable experts. Looks we’re about to burst into song (but don’t worry, we didn’t).
